There's something that I started doing every morning a while back before I would allow my feet to hit the ground, and that was to quickly take a scan of what's my mind like. A lot of times, first thing in the morning when we wake up, it's not always positive. It's kind of jumping into fix-it mode or all the things you have to do that day, or just feeling like already tired and ready for the weekend. Yada, yada, yada. The list goes on. And so what I started doing is, first thing, when I wake up, I lay in bed and I'm like, hey, girl, how you doing? And I listen for a minute and I sink into how am I feeling and what are the thoughts that are going on inside of my mind, and then I make sure that I take at least five minutes laying in bed. Again, my feet have not touched the ground yet. Sometimes I have to push the covers off to make sure I don't fall back asleep.
Speaker 1:Do whatever you have to do, and I speak love and encouragement over myself and I enter a place of gratitude, and so that may look like Christina, you're doing such a great job. I love you, I love your resilience, I love your ability to figure things out. I love how you're going to start today with a positive mindset. I love how you're going to see solutions and answers, and I love your ability to find joy in the simple things. I'm grateful for everything that I have. I'm so grateful that I woke up this morning. I'm grateful for a strong body. I'm grateful that everything that I need is on its way. I'm grateful that the breakthrough that I need is coming. I'm grateful for this time that I get to spend with myself, and I just go on and on and on. And now, if this is new to you, it may be very hard to know what to say you're grateful for or how to encourage yourself, and so, if that's the case, I want you to start small, and I want you to prepare the night before. If you don't have time the night before, you can always also do this in the morning.
Speaker 1:Grab a pen and paper, and I want you to list out all of the things that you're grateful for. I want you to list out all of the things that you like about yourself. If you can't think of a lot of things that you like about yourself, think about things that people like about you, that people compliment you on. And then I want you, on the other side of the paper, to list out all of the things that you feel need to change, things that suck, things that you don't like, things that aren't where you want them to be, list them out. And so then what you're going to do in the morning is on the front side of the paper, where you've listed things that you're grateful for, things that you like about yourself. Those are your self-encouraging statements. Those are the things that you tell yourself, as if you were telling a friend to give them a pick-me-up and remind them how amazing and awesome they are. Those are the things that you talk about.
Speaker 1:And then, when you step into that time where you are grateful for things and you're talking about how you want your day to go, I want you to go on that other side of the paper of the things that you don't like and I want you to speak to those things as if you've already overcome them, as if they've already changed in a positive way, or just in a place of power. And so if you have to wake up and you have to go to a job that's very stressful, you could say I'm grateful for a job that is helping me pay my bills, and I'm thankful that new opportunities are coming my way. I'm grateful today that I'm going to be able to see solutions and find ways to make today less stressful. I'm grateful that this job is not my end destination and I'm not stuck. It's just the fuel that's helping me get to my next destination. And you can go down the list.
Speaker 1:Maybe you're in a relationship that's very challenging and you're not getting the support and the love that you should get. You know, then you could say I love that I have shown love to this person, that I've dared to show up, that I've dared to care for someone, and I'm grateful that I'm going to see solutions. I'm grateful that I am building a strength to have honest conversation with that person. I'm grateful that I am building a strength to have honest conversation with that person. I'm grateful that I'm not stuck and I will have new dreams and new desires, and so you can tweak this however it suits you, but remember, before you let your feet hit the ground, do this for five minutes. Set the timer on your phone if you need to, but put your phone right down. Don't get on social media or any.
Speaker 1:Check your emails and you're going to start with gratitude, encouraging yourself, and then you're going to switch into being thankful and grateful for things that maybe have not yet happened. And this positions you to show up in your day as the person that you need to show up as to experience your breakthrough, to have transformation. To experience your breakthrough, to have transformation, to really create what's next in your life and make sure that what's next is positive and empowering and just amazing for you. Because the energy that we start our day with, the mindset that we start our day with, dictates our entire day. And while it's possible midday to be like, oh, let me, you know, get positive or let me get it together, you know, life's not that bad. It's a really hard, so much harder to do that in midday than to start your day out that way, and you'll find that it also gives you this great resilience.
Speaker 1:So if something not great happens, first thing in the morning, you're in this positive place of oh, that sucks, but you know what. I'm an overcomer. You know what I can figure this out. You know what. I've survived every hard thing that's come my way up until this point. Every day, I have gotten to this point and I'm going to thrive. And so listen to this again, if you need to, to understand this exercise. And again, as you do it every morning, I would like you to commit to it for two weeks and notice how much better you get at it after just two weeks, after three weeks, after four weeks, after five weeks, guaranteed by six weeks of doing this, you won't even need the pen and paper anymore, you won't even need the timer on your phone.
Speaker 1:It's going to be a habit for you to, before you, let your feet hit the ground to know what you're thankful for, know what you're grateful for, encourage yourself, uplift yourself and then also speak into existence, align with your most empowered, desired and amazing future. Because when you're grateful for transformation that hasn't happened yet, when you speak into existence things that aren't yet seen or don't yet seem possible, it positions your mind and your energy to make that truth. Because I always say what you look for, you find. So if you're focused on what's hard, if you're focused on the struggle, if you're focused on what you can't change, you're going to keep finding those same things you can't change. You're going to keep finding struggle, you're going to keep finding yourself being stuck.
Speaker 1:But if you're able to take five minutes in the morning to focus on the best parts of your life, the best parts of you, and a hope, even if you don't yet believe it. A hope for what you want in your future, for who you want to be in your future. If you focus on those things, you're training your body to naturally find them, hence actually create them as your reality. If you have any trouble doing this exercise, if you want some support, if you want to talk through it more, I'm happy to speak with you.
